About New Delhi

New Delhi, the capital of India which is abuzz and will remain so with political activities, holds a strong historical background. Reigned by the most powerful and influential emperors in Indian history, the city offers a plethora of monuments speaking of the grandeur and glory of bygone ages.

It all started in 1192 when the legions of the Afghan warrior Muhammad of Ghori captured the Rajput town, paving the way for the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate later in 1206. Invasion by Timur later in 1398 put an end to this Sultanate, paving the way to Babur who after the battle of Panipat in 1526, founded the Mughal Empire.

If the history of the city is to be summed up in just one sentence, the city saw rulers including Qutab-ud-Din to Khiljis, Tughlaqs to Mughals and the soils of the city contain in itself the blood of sacrifices in love and respect for the nation. Each brick of the historical monuments speak volumes of their makers and their voyage

The city of Delhi was passed on to the hands of the British in 1803 but it was only in 1911, when the capital of the British Empire was shifted from Calcutta to Delhi, that Delhi got its present prestige.

New Delhi, sprawled over the west bank of the river Yamuna, is one of the fastest growing cities in India. The city, besides, is well connected to the rest of the world through air. It is served by the Indira Gandhi International Airport - one of the busiest airports in India - providing connectivity to most cities in India and across the world
